Abortion rights are under constant attack in Ohio. You know this. Bill after bill… Hearing after hearing… You’ve called… You’ve emailed… You’ve rallied… Want to do more?

NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio seeks enthusiastic, engaged, and social media savvy volunteers to join our inaugural Digital Organizing Council. Volunteers will attend monthly training webinars, use online tools and platforms to identify and engage with pro-choice supporters, and help expand dialogue for more in depth peer-to-peer conversations related to reproductive freedom both within their communities and throughout Ohio.
The Ohio Fairness Act can protect LGBTQ Ohioans from discrimination at work, in housing, and in access to public accommodations. It’s hard to believe, but discrimination against LGBTQ people is still generally legal in Ohio. On Tuesday, February 4th, we were excited to join hundreds of others across the state who submitted proponent testimony to the Ohio House Civil Justice Committee for this critically important bill!
Did you watch Trump’s State of the Union address? We don’t blame you if you skipped it, but he said something important and we all need to respond. In his racist, hate-filled address, Trump attacked abortion rights. Can you write a quick letter to the editor of your local newspaper?
Keeping a pro-choice view present on the opinion page of your local newspaper is critical in 2020. While we’ve seen several letters in papers already, we hope to have more printed this month. If you haven’t sent in a letter explaining why YOU support access to safe and legal abortion, then please do so as soon as you can. Note that these letters aren’t that long. Just a few sentences can have an impact.
Join NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Foundation, ROOTT, and Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio for a community meeting to give us your input on a possible Pregnancy / Parenting / Reproductive Health Care Non-Discrimination Ordinance for the City of Columbus. We want to hear from the community about how something like this would be useful to you or someone you know as well as any concerns you may have.
Childcare will be provided so feel free to bring the little ones. RSVP required for childcare so we know how many kids to expect!

The Women’s Health Protection Act would safeguard the right to access abortion care free from medically unnecessary restrictions and bans on abortion. By passing this bill, Congress would ensure that the right to abortion first recognized in Roe v. Wade is a reality for people across the United States.
The Subcommittee on Health of the Committee on Energy and Commerce will hold a legislative hearing on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at 10 a.m. in the John D. Dingell Room, 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington DC. The hearing is entitled, “Protecting Women’s Access to Reproductive Health Care.”
We will never give up the fight to protect and expand access to abortion in Ohio. Over the last several years, we’ve been joined by some amazing individuals. They are Ohioans who are committed to taking action as well as speaking up whenever necessary to defend the people who need abortion care because none of us will have reproductive freedom until all of us do.
We recognize that for many people, the right to abortion has not equaled access to abortion. In Ohio, the threats to abortion access have never been more serious. To rally even more support for the cause, we invited a few of our friends to record a video of the Declaration for Reproductive Freedom. This powerful statement has already been signed on by 5,759 of you. Thank you for your support.
To continue building this movement, please share this video with your friends and ask them to sign on, too.
Senate Bill 260 would prohibit doctors from using telemedicine options to provide abortion access to patients in communities without an abortion clinic. This bill must be stopped. Medication abortion is incredibly safe, whether the patient consults with a physician in person or by a video conference. With Ohio’s health disparities the Ohio legislature should be focused on expanding access for underserved populations not attacking it.
In testimony before the Ohio Senate Health Committee, Sen. Stephen Huffman tried to make an argument that his bill is needed for reasons of “safety.” The committee however was skeptical. He was asked directly: “Are there documented instances where access to abortion through telemedicine has proven to be unsafe?” Sen. Huffman was forced to admit: “No.”
