Columbus — The AP has called the Supreme Court of Ohio race for Jennifer Brunner.
NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Executive Director Kellie Copeland said: “Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have packed the federal court system with far-right extremists. As a result, the Supreme Court of Ohio is more important than ever in protecting abortion access in our state. Today, reproductive freedom voters went to the polls and elected Jennifer Brunner because of her proven track record of protecting abortion rights and voting rights. NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio was proud to recommend Jennifer Brunner for the Supreme Court of Ohio.”
Hamilton County voters have elected Jennifer Branch as judge for the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas.
On Branch’s win, Copeland said: “Few people in Ohio have done as much to actively defend our reproductive rights as Jennifer Branch has. As a partner at the Gerhardstein and Branch Co. law firm, she has been the lead legal counsel against unjust legislative and administrative efforts to close abortion clinics. Her work has been vitally important in the effort to preserve abortion access in our state. Jennifer Branch is an excellent choice for judge in the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas. NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio was proud to recommend her for election.
“In the last four years, pro-choice Ohioans have successfully worked to keep abortion clinics open in Toledo and Dayton, and prevented clinic closures during COVID. We have fought to protect abortion access in our communities because the inability to access abortion, contraception, and other reproductive health care has far reaching consequences on a person’s ability to care for themselves and their family. This is especially true for Black and brown people who face systemic racism and are more likely to suffer from unfair laws and injustice.”
NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio proudly contributed to these victories through 360 volunteer shifts that dialed over 20,000 phones before Election Day. Engaging in new technology, we sent 242,630 texts to Ohio voters. Our volunteers also hand wrote 4,001 postcards across six targeted races. Our Facebook video ads reached 148,510 Ohioans, generating more than 560,000 impressions.
