Crisis pregnancy centers, also known as CPCs or anti-abortion centers, utilize misleading advertising and “free” services to lure in patients seeking reproductive care. Often lacking the tools needed to provide adequate care, they use stigma to dissuade patients from getting they care they want and need. Funded with taxpayer dollars, CPCs in Ohio have incredibly robust funding, especially after Roe was overturned.
Undoing the harms caused by crisis pregnancy centers can’t happen overnight, but addressing food insecurity, affordable and reliable housing, affordable and accessible childcare (beyond just 9-5), comprehensive sex education, and legitimate healthcare facilities providing free pregnancy tests and low-cost ultrasounds.
Real assistance to individuals and families in need is what our city needs, not crisis pregnancy centers.
