Columbus — Following the August 7 special election in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District, NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Executive Director Kellie Copeland said: “Ohio’s congressional and state legislative districts are among the most gerrymandered in America. Even in a district as contorted as Ohio’s 12th, Danny O’Connor showed his unabashedly pro-choice campaign strategy was effective in standing up to heavily fabricated Republican majorities. O’Connor was proud of his endorsement from NARAL Pro-Choice America, and we are proud of him. With abortion access on the line, he directly stated his opposition to efforts to overturn or gut Roe v. Wade and criminalize women.
“We are excited to see O’Connor share the ballot with pro-choice champions Sherrod Brown and Rich Cordray in the general election. Tonight’s results are a clear indicator that our endorsed state-wide candidates are headed for victory on November 6th.”
